SciatiEase FAQ: 40 Questions About the Capsules, the Label and Buying

SciatiEase Labs is the maker printed on the blue band at the top of every bottle. The brand's site names the company SciatiEase Labs, LLC, 1900 Midway Lane, Smyrna, TN 37167, and says each component is made in Tampa, Florida, with orders shipped from Florida (SciatiEase order page). It makes the capsules; it does not run this website.

It is a real product: a white bottle of 120 gelatin capsules with a full Supplement Facts panel. The brand sells it in packs of 1, 3 or 6 bottles (SciatiEase order page). The ad-style sales page is real too, but its tone runs far ahead of the evidence, so judge the capsules by the label.

No. SciatiEase is sold as a dietary supplement, not a drug, so it never went through FDA review for safety or effect before sale (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements). Its claims are support claims with the standard FDA asterisk. It is not a pain medicine, and the bottle makes no claim about sciatica as a disease.

No generic SciatiEase exists. It is a brand-name supplement, not a patented drug that gets a generic copy. Many makers sell its single ingredients, such as PEA, R-alpha lipoic acid and methylcobalamin, but amounts and quality differ. A product with a similar name is a different formula with a different label.

No caffeine or stimulant appears on the Supplement Facts panel. The 12 lines are four B vitamins, R-ALA, PEA, acetyl-L-carnitine, benfotiamine and four herbs, and two of those herbs, passionflower and Chinese skullcap, are calming rather than stimulating (NCCIH, Passionflower). Taking the capsules with dinner should not keep you awake.

SciatiEase prints no gluten-free claim on the panel we have. Its herbal blend includes oat straw, and oats can carry gluten unless they are certified gluten free. If you have celiac disease or a gluten allergy, ask the order desk for allergen details before you order, and check with your doctor.

Partly. Four of its 12 lines are B vitamins: B2, B6, folate and B12, all in active coenzyme forms. A fifth, benfotiamine, is a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 (NIH ODS, Thiamin). The rest are PEA, R-alpha lipoic acid, acetyl-L-carnitine and four herbs, so it is a mixed formula.

Only a small share. NIH notes that about 1.3% of a 1,000 mcg oral dose of B12 is absorbed, which is still around 13 mcg, well above the 2.4 mcg adults need each day (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). That is why big oral doses can help people who are low.

The AlphaPalm Blend is a 750 mg line on the panel that joins R-alpha lipoic acid 250 mg and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) 500 mg. Unlike the herbal blend, both amounts are printed. The name is the brand's own; it is not a standard ingredient you will find on other labels.

None of those is listed on the Supplement Facts panel or in the other ingredients, which are gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable stearate and silica. The label image we have does not show an allergen statement, so check the side of your bottle if you have a severe allergy.

No. No published trial of the finished SciatiEase product turned up in our search. The research behind it covers single ingredients, such as PEA, alpha-lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine, often in diabetic nerve pain rather than sciatica. The FTC says evidence should match the product's dose and formula (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance).

PEA has the closer link to sciatica. One 636-patient trial gave PEA for sciatic pain, with better results at 600 mg than 300 mg (Keppel Hesselink, J Pain Res 2015). Alpha-lipoic acid was studied in diabetic nerve damage, with the clearest benefit from IV doses (Mijnhout et al., Int J Endocrinol 2012). SciatiEase has 500 mg PEA and 250 mg R-ALA.

It means the bottle lists 12 ingredients that each have some research. It does not mean the product was studied. The evidence ranges from small PEA trials to very low-certainty acetyl-L-carnitine data (Rolim et al., Cochrane 2019) and one green-oat memory trial that never looked at pain (Kennedy et al., Nutrients 2020).

No. The bottle says "Supports Sciatic Nerve Health*". Several ingredients, such as alpha-lipoic acid and benfotiamine, were tested in diabetic neuropathy (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic Acid) (Stracke et al., BENDIP 2008), but SciatiEase was not. Up to half of people with diabetes have nerve damage (NIDDK, Peripheral Neuropathy), and they should ask a doctor before any supplement.

It is a fair product with clear limits. Strengths: 8 of 12 amounts printed, PEA near trial doses, active B vitamin forms and a 180-day guarantee. Weak spots: no product trial, low carnitine and benfotiamine, B6 above Australia's warning line, hidden herb amounts and sales copy that overstates the case.

No. SciatiEase is a supplement, and no study shows it can do the job of a prescribed medicine. Keep taking prescribed medicine exactly as directed, and talk to the doctor who prescribed it before any change. A supplement can sit alongside a plan, with your doctor's agreement, but never take its place.
