SciatiEase Side Effects: What the Ingredients Can Cause and Who Should Ask First
SciatiEase side effects reported for its ingredients are mostly mild: nausea, an upset stomach or a rash from alpha-lipoic acid, and drowsiness from passionflower. The bigger questions are the 20 mg of vitamin B6 per 4-capsule serving and bleeding risk with blood thinners. SciatiEase itself has never been tested in a trial.

Overview01
What are the side effects of SciatiEase?
Mostly mild ones in the ingredient studies: nausea, a sore stomach or a rash, plus some drowsiness from the calming herbs.
No trial of SciatiEase exists, so the evidence comes from each ingredient. PEA, at 500 mg, caused no major side effects in 11 trials (Lang-Illievich et al., Nutrients 2023). Alpha-lipoic acid can bring nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash or vertigo (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic Acid).
Passionflower may cause drowsiness or dizziness (NCCIH, Passionflower). Riboflavin turns urine bright yellow, which is harmless (NIH ODS, Riboflavin).
| Ingredient | Amount | What studies report |
|---|---|---|
| PEA | 500 mg | No major side effects in 11 trials (Lang-Illievich et al., Nutrients 2023) |
| R-alpha lipoic acid | 250 mg | Nausea, rash, diarrhea; rare repeated low blood sugar (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic Acid) (Vallianou et al., Metabol Open 2026) |
| Acetyl-L-carnitine | 250 mg | Cramps and a fishy odor at about 3 g, 12 times this amount (NIH ODS, Carnitine) |
| Vitamin B6 | 20 mg | Tingling or numbness with high, long use (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6) (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy) |
| Feverfew | At most 50 mg | Stomach upset, allergy in ragweed-sensitive people, slower clotting (NCCIH, Feverfew) (MSKCC, Feverfew) |
Vitamin B602
Is SciatiEase safe with 20 mg of vitamin B6 a day?
It sits under the US upper limit of 100 mg, but above the lines Europe and Australia use.
Adults need only 1.3-1.7 mg of B6 a day, and Europe's food safety agency set a 12 mg adult limit in 2023 (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). Australia's regulator wants a warning on products above 10 mg a day. It says tingling or numbness can start below 50 mg, often when people stack B6 products (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy).
Add up every label: a B-complex on top of SciatiEase can push your total well past 20 mg.
| Adult need (RDA) | 1.3-1.7 mg |
|---|---|
| SciatiEase at 2 capsules | 10 mg |
| Australia's warning line | Above 10 mg |
| EFSA adult limit | 12 mg |
| SciatiEase at 4 capsules | 20 mg |
| US upper limit | 100 mg |
Medicines03
Which medicines should you check before taking SciatiEase?
Blood thinners, diabetes medicines, chemotherapy and seizure medicines come first. Type one below.
Feverfew and skullcap drive the bleeding flags, R-ALA the blood sugar ones. Each drug group is covered in nerve supplements and medicines.
Not on this list. Ask your pharmacist; the list is not complete.
- Gabapentin or pregabalinUse care
No direct interaction with the label ingredients is listed in the sources we checked. Passionflower and skullcap may add to the drowsiness these medicines cause. Pregabalin did no better than placebo for sciatica in one large trial, which is worth discussing with your doctor; do not stop either drug on your own. (NCCIH, Passionflower) (Mathieson et al., NEJM 2017 (PRECISE))
- Apixaban (Eliquis), warfarin and other blood thinnersAsk first
Feverfew and Chinese skullcap may slow clotting and add to bleeding risk. The Eliquis label asks you to tell your doctor about every supplement. Ask your prescriber before you start. (MSKCC, Feverfew) (MSKCC, Scutellaria baicalensis) (MedlinePlus, Apixaban)
- Diabetes medicines (insulin, sulfonylureas, metformin)Ask first
Alpha-lipoic acid may lower blood sugar and add to diabetes drugs. Metformin can lower B12 over time, which the 1,000 mcg of B12 may offset; your doctor can check your level. (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic Acid) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12) (Vallianou et al., Metabol Open 2026)
- Cholesterol medicine (rosuvastatin)Use care
Chinese skullcap lowered rosuvastatin levels in a small study of volunteers. Ask your pharmacist if you take a statin. (MSKCC, Scutellaria baicalensis)
- ChemotherapyAsk first
Acetyl-L-carnitine made chemotherapy nerve damage worse in one large trial, and antioxidants during treatment should be cleared with your cancer team. (Hershman et al., J Clin Oncol 2013)
- Sedatives, sleep aids, opioids and alcoholUse care
Passionflower and Chinese skullcap may add to drowsiness. Avoid driving until you know how you react. (NCCIH, Passionflower) (MSKCC, Scutellaria baicalensis)
- Seizure medicines (phenytoin, valproate)Ask first
Vitamin B6 interacts with some seizure medicines, and valproate, phenytoin and similar drugs lower carnitine levels, according to NIH. Ask your neurologist first. (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6) (NIH ODS, Carnitine)
- NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen)Use care
NSAIDs and feverfew both affect platelets, so bleeding risk may add up, especially with a blood thinner. NSAIDs gave only a small benefit for sciatica in trials. (MSKCC, Feverfew) (Rasmussen-Barr et al., Cochrane 2016)
A short list built from NIH, MSKCC and trial sources, not a full interaction check. Bring the bottle or the Supplement Facts panel to your pharmacist. Keep taking prescribed medicine.
A supplement is never a reason to skip, cut or end a prescription. Talk to the doctor who prescribed it before you add SciatiEase.
Who should skip it04
Who should not take SciatiEase?
Skip it unless your doctor agrees if you are pregnant, nursing or under 18, allergic to ragweed, on chemotherapy, or due for surgery.
Feverfew and passionflower are not advised in pregnancy (NCCIH, Feverfew) (NCCIH, Passionflower). Feverfew can also trigger reactions in people allergic to ragweed (MSKCC, Feverfew).
- Surgery coming up: feverfew may slow clotting, so NCCIH advises leaving it off for 2 weeks first (NCCIH, Feverfew).
- Liver disease: Chinese skullcap formulas have been linked to liver injury (MSKCC, Scutellaria baicalensis).
- Chemotherapy: high-dose acetyl-L-carnitine worsened taxane nerve damage in one trial (Hershman et al., J Clin Oncol 2013).
- Vegetarian or vegan: the capsule shell is gelatin.

Is SciatiEase gluten free?
The panel we read makes no gluten-free claim, and one herb, oat straw, comes from the oat plant.
Oat straw is fourth in the 50 mg blend, so it holds at most 12.5 mg. People with celiac disease are usually told to avoid oat products unless they are certified gluten free. Ask the order desk at +1 (844) 361-1273.

When should a reaction or leg symptom send you to a doctor?
Call your doctor about a spreading rash or odd bruising. Some leg signs need the ER.
Unusual bleeding matters most on a blood thinner, since feverfew affects platelets (MSKCC, Feverfew).
- Numb groin or inner thighsThe 'saddle' area you would sit on
- New bladder or bowel troubleCannot pass urine, or leaks you cannot control
- Leg weakness getting worseFoot drop, stumbling, or one leg giving way
- Pain after a fall or crashOr with fever, weight loss or a cancer history
- Pain in both legsEspecially with numbness spreading on both sides
Most casesMost sciatica improves over weeks with time, staying active and simple self-care. See your doctor if pain is severe, lasts more than a few weeks or keeps coming back.
Call 911Or go to the emergency room for saddle numbness, new bladder or bowel problems, or fast-worsening leg weakness. These can mean cauda equina syndrome, which needs care within hours.
Signs from AANS and NHS-style guidance (AANS, Cauda Equina Syndrome) and MedlinePlus (MedlinePlus, Sciatica). A supplement is never a reason to wait.
FAQ08
SciatiEase side effect questions
Is SciatiEase safe to take?
For most healthy adults the ingredients caused only mild side effects in studies, though SciatiEase itself is untested. The main flags are 20 mg of vitamin B6, bleeding risk with blood thinners, and pregnancy. Show your pharmacist the panel.
Can SciatiEase cause diarrhea?
Yes, in some people. Alpha-lipoic acid, which supplies 250 mg per serving, lists diarrhea, nausea and vomiting among its side effects (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic Acid). Taking the capsules with meals may help.
Does SciatiEase cause constipation?
Constipation is not listed for any SciatiEase ingredient in the NIH, NCCIH and MSKCC sources we checked. If your bowel habits change after you start, note the timing and mention it to your doctor.
Does SciatiEase raise blood pressure?
None of the sources we cite links the 12 ingredients to higher blood pressure, and the panel lists no stimulant. Keep taking your usual readings and share any change with your doctor.
Does SciatiEase cause weight gain?
No ingredient source we checked lists weight gain as a side effect. Four capsules are a small amount of material. Weigh yourself as usual and ask your doctor about any steady change after you start.
Can SciatiEase cause tingling or numbness?
It is possible with vitamin B6. Each serving has 20 mg, and Australia's regulator reports nerve symptoms below 50 mg a day, often with several B6 products (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy). New tingling in your hands or feet deserves a call to your doctor.
