Vitamin B6, B2 and Folate in SciatiEase: Is 20 mg of B6 Too Much?
SciatiEase contains 20 mg of vitamin B6 as P5P per 4-capsule serving, plus 25 mg of B2 and 500 mcg DFE of folate. The B6 is under the US upper limit of 100 mg a day but above Europe's 12 mg limit and Australia's 10 mg warning line. High B6 intake over time has been linked to nerve damage.

The label lines01
How much vitamin B6, B2 and folate is in SciatiEase?
Per 4 capsules: 20 mg of B6 as P5P, 25 mg of B2 as riboflavin-5-phosphate and 500 mcg DFE of folate as 5-MTHF.
All three sit at the top of the panel, each in its active coenzyme form. Two capsules give half of each.
B2 and B6 run at 1,923% and 1,177% of the Daily Value; folate stays at 120%. Only the B6 raises a real safety question.

B6 limits02
Is 20 mg of vitamin B6 a day too much?
It is under the US limit of 100 mg a day. It is above Europe's 12 mg limit and Australia's 10 mg warning line.
Adults need only 1.3 mg of B6 a day up to age 50, then 1.5 to 1.7 mg (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). The US sets its upper limit at 100 mg a day from all sources. In 2023 the European Food Safety Authority set a much lower adult limit of 12 mg a day.
Australia went further on labels. Since March 1, 2023, products with more than 10 mg of B6 a day must carry a warning. The old line was 50 mg (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy). A full SciatiEase serving is twice that line.
| Figure | B6 per day | Source |
|---|---|---|
| US adult need (RDA) | 1.3-1.7 mg | NIH (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6) |
| SciatiEase, 2 capsules | 10 mg | Supplement Facts panel |
| Australia's warning line | Above 10 mg | TGA (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy) |
| EU adult limit | 12 mg | EFSA, via NIH (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6) |
| SciatiEase, 4 capsules | 20 mg | Supplement Facts panel |
| US upper limit | 100 mg | NIH (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6) |
The brand's order page suggests 8 capsules a day if nothing changes in 14 days. That would mean 40 mg of B6, so we never suggest more than 4.
Nerve risk03
Can vitamin B6 cause nerve damage?
Yes, with high intake over time. The worst cases involved grams a day, but some reports describe symptoms at much lower doses.
People who took 1 to 6 grams a day for 12 to 40 months developed severe numbness and lost their balance (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). Some reports describe damage below 500 mg a day. Australia's regulator has logged more than 30 reports. It says symptoms can appear under 50 mg a day, often with several B6 products at once (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy).
The awkward part: the symptoms look like the nerve trouble buyers want to ease. Think tingling, burning or numbness in the hands or feet. They usually fade once the supplement stops (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6).
Stop SciatiEase and any other B6 product, and tell your doctor.
P5P form04
Does the P5P form of vitamin B6 avoid the nerve risk?
No source we found says so. Australia's regulator lists pyridoxal 5-phosphate among the B6 forms to add up.
SciatiEase uses pyridoxal-5-phosphate, often shortened to P5P. The TGA tells shoppers to look for both pyridoxine and pyridoxal 5-phosphate on labels and to count them together (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy).
At 200 mg a day, B6 may lower blood levels of the seizure medicines phenytoin and phenobarbital (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). SciatiEase holds a tenth of that, but tell your doctor if you take either. Keep taking prescribed medicine exactly as directed.

What does vitamin B2 do in SciatiEase?
Riboflavin helps the body use energy from food. At 25 mg it is about 20 times adult needs, with no upper limit set.
Men need 1.3 mg of riboflavin a day and women 1.1 mg (NIH ODS, Riboflavin). No harm has been reported from 400 mg a day for at least three months, though NIH says limited data cannot prove high intakes harmless.
The best-known study is in migraine: 400 mg a day cut attacks by about two a month in 55 adults. No study has tested riboflavin for nerve pain. Bright yellow urine is a harmless side effect.
Folate06
What form of folate is in SciatiEase?
It is 5-MTHF, the active methyl form, at 500 mcg DFE per serving, or 120% of the Daily Value.
Adults need 400 mcg DFE a day, and the upper limit for added folate is 1,000 mcg (NIH ODS, Folate). NIH says 5-MTHF is at least as well absorbed as folic acid, though it has no formal DFE conversion yet.
One caution matters. Large folate intakes can correct the anemia of a B12 shortfall while nerve damage continues, so a blood count may look normal. People on methotrexate for cancer should ask their oncologist first. More on vitamin B12 in SciatiEase.
Fair view07
Do the B vitamins in SciatiEase help sciatica?
They have not been tested for sciatica, and a Cochrane review found too little evidence that B vitamins ease nerve pain.
The review pooled 13 studies and could not say whether B vitamins help or harm (Ang et al., Cochrane 2008). For sciatica, there is no trial at all. Two capsules keep B6 at 10 mg if you and your doctor prefer less; see how to take SciatiEase and the side effects guide.
FAQ08
Vitamin B6, B2 and folate questions
What is P5P in SciatiEase?
P5P is pyridoxal-5-phosphate, the active coenzyme form of vitamin B6. SciatiEase lists 20 mg per 4 capsules. Australia's regulator counts P5P the same as pyridoxine when adding up daily B6 (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy).
What are the signs of too much vitamin B6?
Tingling, burning or numbness, usually in the hands or feet (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy). Very high doses can also affect balance (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). If you notice these, stop B6 products and see your doctor; symptoms usually improve after stopping.
Why does Australia warn about vitamin B6 above 10 mg?
Its regulator received more than 30 reports of nerve symptoms linked to B6 products, some under 50 mg a day (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy). Since March 2023, products above 10 mg a day must carry a warning. SciatiEase gives 20 mg at 4 capsules.
Is SciatiEase safe if I already take a B-complex?
Add up the B6 first. A B-complex or multivitamin may push your total well past 20 mg, and symptoms have been reported when people stack several products (TGA, Vitamin B6 and neuropathy). Show both labels to your pharmacist.
Why does SciatiEase turn urine bright yellow?
That is the riboflavin. Each serving has 25 mg of vitamin B2, about 20 times what adults need. The color change is harmless, and no upper limit has been set for B2 (NIH ODS, Riboflavin).
Is the folate in SciatiEase folic acid?
No. It is 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), the active form, at 500 mcg DFE per serving. NIH says it is at least as well absorbed as folic acid (NIH ODS, Folate).
Does vitamin B6 help sciatica?
No trial shows that. B vitamins have weak evidence even for diabetic nerve pain (Ang et al., Cochrane 2008), and too much B6 can cause nerve symptoms of its own (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6).
